I offer intensives in two different approaches, EMDR trauma therapy and Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT). They are available either online or in-person in the beautiful setting of my practice here in Devon.
What is an intensive?
An intensive is an immersive, concentrated block of sessions designed to provide deep, focused therapeutic support over a short period of time, offering a powerful alternative to traditional weekly work.
For years, clients and therapists have embraced the familiar structure of weekly sessions, recognizing the benefits of this reliable and ongoing rhythm. More recently, however, there has been mounting interest in the intensive approach, together with a growing body of research supporting the view that it can offer deeper exploration and more rapid healing.
I typically structure my intensives around three-hour blocks of therapy delivered over three days. I also offer an assessment session before the intensive and a follow-up meeting to review progress a few weeks after the intensive. The schedule is certainly flexible, but I’ve found this particular structure to be effective.
Why choose an intensive?
Accelerated progress
With concentrated time dedicated to therapy, clients can explore their difficulties more deeply and make significant progress in a shorter timeframe. This intensive approach allows for a deeper engagement with emotional and psychological issues, facilitating forward movement that might take weeks or months in standard sessions.
Flexible scheduling
For those with busy lives, therapy intensives provide a flexible alternative. Rather than taking up time with weekly appointments over several months, intensives need only a few days to be taken out of the calendar.
Enhanced focus
The immersive nature of therapy intensives encourages clients to engage fully with the therapeutic process. Away from the usual distractions of everyday life, intensives provide protected time and space to address blocks and concentrate on healing.
Immediate tools and strategies
During an intensive session, you can learn practical coping strategies and tools that you can implement immediately. This proactive approach helps clients leave with actionable steps to manage their challenges.

Intensives are offered online to couples in the UK and around the world. Alternatively, we can also meet in person at my office, located in beautiful countryside on the outskirts of Exeter.
For those travelling here from elsewhere in the country or overseas, there is a comfortable self-catering apartment on the property which is available for you to stay in. There are also numerous lovely accommodation options in the area. If you would like more information on arrangements for residential intensives, please get in touch.
